A Priestly Service with Gladness

Working Without the Fussing

Page 3

Yet, ironically, in that surrender of priestly oblation to slavedom we find freedom, for such service matches our souls - the persons we are created to be. Our True Self arises from such submission to duty, freely accepted in our confession and baptism. To say "Christian" and "slave of Christ" is to say the same reality.

I confess, I have too often complained about burdens of service placed on me. Like the mother in the story above, I have fussed too much about particular challenges of my calling.

The Scripture and story today remind us of the dutiful lives we are to lead. Spirit never places upon us too much responsibility. The service at times can be challenging, and may at times be heartbreaking. But we can rejoice in Service, as long as we recall Whom we serve, and offer our gifts and time kindly and graciously to the honor of Christ and in pure Love for others.

Quietly Responding

1. Are you fussing too much about the duties given you to honor Christ through? If so, please pray for a spirit of joy and honor in such service.

2. Do you recall a time when much was placed on you in service to Christ, yet, you felt fulfillment and meaning that made the sacrifices all worthwhile for you?

3. Is God calling you to serve in some way, and you are not saying "Yes," for you think it is too demanding? Reconsider that prayerfully, today.

Blessings! In Christ!
